Colon cancer is a sort of colon. The colon is the last
part of the large intestine, from the digestive tract.
Colon cancer (rectum - Rectum) is a cancer in the last
15 centimeters of the colon. Together, these two types of cancer are called
colorectal cancer.
After a period of time, polypi formed into cancerous
lumps in the colon.
These polyps may be small and accompanied by very few
symptoms if any. Regular scanning can prevent the development of colon cancer
by early detection of polyps before they become cancerous.
If any signs of colon cancer appear, they may include:
- Change in normal bowel activity
- Blood in the stool
- Permanent intestinal cramps (colic)
- Flatulence (flatulence) or abdominal pain
-Symptoms of colon cancer:
When symptoms of colon cancer begin to appear, they
vary from case to case, and are linked to the size and location of the tumor
inside the colon.
Symptoms of colon cancer and primary signs may include:
Changes in normal bowel activity, manifested by
diarrhea, constipation or changes in stool appearance and frequency of
defecation, lasting for more than two weeks
Bleeding from the anus or blood in the stool
Tightness in the abdominal area manifested in cramps
(colic), gas swelling and aches
Stool with abdominal pain
Symptoms of colon cancer are also accompanied by a
feeling that defecation has not completely emptied the intestine
Fatigue or weakness
Unexplained weight loss
- Causes and risk factors of colon
cancer
- Colon cancer, in general, is formed when something changes in a group of healthy cells. Healthy cells grow and divide regularly and coordinated to give the body the ability to function and perform its functions, naturally and properly.
- But sometimes cell growth and division are out of control, and cells continue to divide and multiply even without the need for such a large number of cells.
- This excessive increase in the number of cells in the colorectal region can be accompanied by the production of precancerous cells within the inner colon envelope.
- Over a very long period of time - even up to several years - some of these surplus cells can turn cancerous.
- In advanced stages of colon cancer, colon cancer can penetrate the wall of the colon and spread (metastasis) to nearby lymph nodes or other internal organs. As with all cancers, the exact cause of colon cancer is still unknown.
- Treatment of colon cancer
The type of colon cancer treatment that a therapist
can recommend depends mainly on the stage the cancer has reached.
The three main types of treatment are:
- Surgical treatment
- Chemical treatment
- Radiation therapy
- Colon resection surgery is the main solution for the treatment of colon cancer.
As for the size of the part to be removed from the
colon during the surgery, or whether there are other additional therapies, such
as radiotherapy or chemical, constitute a suitable solution for this patient or
that related to several factors, the most important of which are: the location
of the tumor, the depth that Dig it (penetrate it) into the colon wall and
whether the cancer has spread (outbreaks) to the lymph nodes or other internal
organs in the body.
-Prevention from colon cancer
Lifestyle changes to reduce the risk of injury:
