Ingredients
- Dough :
- 1 and a half cup plain flour
- 1 cup grated coconut
- 1 cup butter
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup fine sugar
- Pinch of salt
- Ingredients of the filling :
- 2 cups of liquid milk
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 4 tablespoons starch
- Half a teaspoon of cast water
- To apply :
- Half cup Shira (sugar syrup )
- Milk pistachios for garnish or dried fruit
Method of preparation
- Preparation of the dough :
- We mix butter with sugar by the crusher
- Gradually add the eggs with continuous mixing until we get a smooth consistency
- Then add salt and vanilla
- Sift the flour and mix it with the coconut and add it to the previous mixture and continue mixing until we get a soft dough
- Cover and refrigerate for 20 minutes
- Preparation of the filling :
- Put the milk in a saucepan, add the sugar and starch and mix well .
- Put the pot over medium heat, stirring constantly to get a thick consistency .
- When boiling to become the filling is ready leave it aside to cool .
- Preparing the pie for baking :
- Get an oven tray and lightly grease it with a little butter, then put a layer of paper the butter .
- We stretch a layer 2 cm thick at the bottom of the tray and make it cover the edges of the tray also then distribute the filling over it .
- Put the rest of the dough in the pastry bag and make lines of dough in the form of a grid over the filling and leave a distance of 1 cm between each line .
- Preheat the oven and put the tray into the oven and leave it for about 25 minutes at 180 degrees .
- When we take out the tray and it is hot, we pour it Shira at room temperature and decorate it with pistachios or dried fruits .
