  • Dough :
  • 1 and a half cup plain flour
  • 1 cup grated coconut
  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup fine sugar
  • Pinch of salt
  • Ingredients of the filling :
  • 2 cups of liquid milk
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 4 tablespoons starch
  • Half a teaspoon of cast water
  • To apply :
  • Half cup Shira (sugar syrup )
  • Milk pistachios for garnish or dried fruit

Method of preparation

  1. Preparation of the dough :
  2. We mix butter with sugar by the crusher
  3. Gradually add the eggs with continuous mixing until we get a smooth consistency
  4. Then add salt and vanilla
  5. Sift the flour and mix it with the coconut and add it to the previous mixture and continue mixing until we get a soft dough
  6. Cover and refrigerate for 20 minutes
  7. Preparation of the filling :
  8. Put the milk in a saucepan, add the sugar and starch and mix well .
  9. Put the pot over medium heat, stirring constantly to get a thick consistency .
  10. When boiling to become the filling is ready leave it aside to cool .
  11. Preparing the pie for baking :
  12. Get an oven tray and lightly grease it with a little butter, then put a layer of paper the butter .
  13. We stretch a layer 2 cm thick at the bottom of the tray and make it cover the edges of the tray also then distribute the filling over it .
  14. Put the rest of the dough in the pastry bag and make lines of dough in the form of a grid over the filling and leave a distance of 1 cm between each line .
  15. Preheat the oven and put the tray into the oven and leave it for about 25 minutes at 180 degrees .
  16. When we take out the tray and it is hot, we pour it Shira at room temperature and decorate it with pistachios or dried fruits .
