When women were examined personally, it was found that more consumption of any particular fish species was inversely associated with risk.

High intake of omega-3 fatty acids is highly associated with the risk of hearing loss, and can help regulate blood flow to the inner ear. The study concluded that the consumption of any type of fish ( tuna, Light Dark fish or shellfish) is associated with a lower risk of hearing loss, and these findings suggested that diet could be important in protecting against acquired hearing loss.

Monounsaturated fats are also found in other foods such as nuts, seeds and green leaves. Previous studies have shown that consuming omega-3 fatty acids can reduce the risk of heart attacks.
